Between 84K-93K I replaced the timing belt, ac belt, fixed two oil leaks, re-sealed the head gasket, air valve replaced, too many repairs to remember
The transmission was not replaced, but acted up on hills.
I had a lebaron convertable for a year and it cost so much money to mantain that I had to sell it.
It was very unreliable and I will NEVER buy Chrystler again. There were periods of time when I was at the mechanic every week. No joke. I payed twice the amount I bought it for in repairs. It was a beautiful car and fun to drive, but it had terrible electric and was not mechanically sound in general. If you're thinking about a Lebaron, make sure you have the $$$ for repairs. I'm surprised this car got such good ratings.
LOL all those things you metnioed at that mileage is VERY common general maintenance for such an old used car. I dunno what you are complaining about. You got an old car and you had to maintain and replace some old parts (they do wear out too) so why complain?
I remember when cars ran and ran and ran forever without needing engine, suspension or transmission work until all the body panels had blown away in a cloud of orange powder.
Today, a vehicle is apparently considered junk after 75,000 miles, and any noting of their problems is met with the ubiquitous snide remarks concerning buying such cars because of their "age" (as if 75,000 meant a car was old).
Sorry, but I say that post-80s American cars are LEMONS, FWDs in particular, and especially Chryslers.
Actually, I've heard people say engines last a lot longer than they used to. But, I have to agree that cars are not built as strong as they used to be, especially that metal used nowdays. It's so thin it crumples at the drop of a hat.
You bought a car with 83,000 miles and expect it to run likes its got 100 on it and it just rolled off the lot? Most of what you mentioned is common maintenance for that high mileage. Do you think maybe that some of the problems with the car might have been caused by the previous owner (s) and the way they drove it? Don't buy a car with 80k+ on it and then blame it on Chrysler for its problems, they don't control how the previous owner handled the vehicle. Did you even obtain maintenance records from the previous owner? It is your responsibility to determine whether or not the car will be reliable and there are plenty of ways of determining that before you buy it.
