2001 Chrysler Neon LE from North America - Comments

I've had my NEON (2001) for 2 yrs now and I do like it. 152,000klm. Petrol use is minimal and it has only cost me general maintenance costs so far. BUT as prior comments have said, my brakes have been squealing (till they warm up) for 4 months or so. I have had them checked but they don't need replacing. It doesn't really bother me.

And yes the windscreen arch sides have blind spots. Scared me to death twice. I now take that into account and am more careful. The horn stopped today and its not a fuse. Also the right hand blinker turns itself off before I complete the turn. On a roundabout I need to hold it on. Otherwise I'm happy with the car.

I bought my 2001 Chrysler Neon in Jan 2007, it had 55,000 kms on it. This is my first car. So far, I have been maintaining it very well. Regular engine oil changes every 6000Kms, transmission oil change 55000 Kms. Right now it's at 111,000Kms; and I had a few minor problems so far. My alternator was replaced, changed the tires (normal wear) and changed the windshield wipers (normal wear). Recently my stereo has been working strangely, it works only at one setting (Bass, MID, Tre). If I change the setting on any of the Bass/MID/Tre.. the music stops. Other than that it's been a pretty reliable car and good gas mileage. I usually get around 450-500 kms on one tank.

If anyone has had any similar stereo problems, please let me know.

I have had my 2000 Chrysler Neon 2.0 LX SOHC for just over 2 years now without any major problems.

The car is well looked after and all servicing is done to Chryslers spec using genuine parts.

The brakes have been a bit on the expensive side due to being done 3 times since owing the car (is this due to being an auto trans?!!)

Overall I'm very pleased with it, but I have now have an annoying problem that has recently started happening, the car starts first time every time (snow or sunshine), the car drives great, but when warm has started to stall, whether I'm driving on the highway or stopped in traffic! But the car will immediately start again no problem. Took the car to a dealer and they can't sort the problem as it's intermittent and hasn't threw any codes up except the little light on the dashboard is on and bleeps when the problem occurs. Anyone else had this problem?
