1992 Chrysler New Yorker review from North America

"A real trooper... 203+ and still going... what a beast!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Let's see...

This car had a special needs battery problem. Even when I put in a new battery, I couldn't keep the car doors open for more than 20 minutes at a time or the battery would die. We learned this my Freshman year when we were loading it up to go home. Needless to say jumper cables and willing helpers were not hard to find on a college campus.

A wheel fell off about 2 years ago while I was driving, that was an adventure. The power windows are finicky, and both front windows have broken at some point. Regular stuff other than that really for a car this age.

Tie rods are weak now (I'm sad), and the battery got drained by the shop because they didn't know about its special needs.

Starting to rust bad... I can't have it towed like a normal car. :(

General comments?

I LOVE this car. It is a beast. I was given this car as a hand-me-down when I was a fresh in college. It had been through my grandparents, uncle, and parents at that point. No-one expected it to last much longer. It was supposed to be a "quick fix" to my need for a car (I was an ed. major and needed to drive for my observation hours). Well, this car got me through college, did all the back and forth 3 hour trips for holidays, and has been with me for 2 years since graduation.

Yorkie, as we have lovingly named this car, is the most comfortable, reliable car I have ever had. This car has 203k miles on it! It owes us nothing and is such a champ. We just bought another car this summer because well our car had 203k miles. Shortly there after the New Yorker had a rattle... we took it to the shop and found out it needed a lot of work to be safe again. We are selling it now to do lack of funds, but we have loved this car!
