All within a little over a year:
Oil change, new filter, trans fluid change, etc. (600)
Frequent brake repairs (500).
Motor broke on driver side window (800 to fix).
Spark plugs, etc. Can't remember all that was fixed, but it cost another 1200.
Finally, fixing thermostat (200) fails to fix
overheating.
Another brake job is need, new rear calipers, the whole thing (1000).
Engine trouble likely cause of overheating (too expensive to fix).
The good:
This is the most comfortable car I have ever owned. It has all the comfort goodies too: electric seat adjustment, electric windows, tinted windows, pretty much all luxury items are in this car.
A real pleasure to drive, this car just feels solid and powerful. Just LOVE the safe feeling of this car.
I love the solid look of the car and the ridiculously large trunk is great too.
The bad:
Very expensive to fix things on this car. 800 dollars to replace a window motor, for example.
Takes a lot of gas. It is a big car with a big engine, so it is a bit of a gas guzzler. Not as bad as some, but not good.
Brakes seem to go fast, maybe due to the size and weight of the car.
Wider than many cars can make it trickier to back up and park. Takes some getting used to.
MY GOD! Where do you live?? Here in Indiana those price for repairs would not be half that much, whew!
Yeah, I agree.
You got taken for a LOOOOONG ride =/
Maybe I did get ripped off, it may be, but I am located in Canada so the prices are in Canadian dollars. I did check around for prices and there was little difference. I think the main reason is that there are so few parts out there so the price goes up. I will miss my powerful New Yorker - the most comfortable car I have ever owned!!
