1970 Chrysler Newport review from North America
"Fun to drive, fast and powerful"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Rebuilt the top end four years ago to make it suitable for unleaded gas.
Replaced the exhaust three times.
Motor mounts have been replaced four time.
New carburetor.
The points need replacing every year.
Lead wires need replacing every summer, they burn on the manifold, the heat riser is in a bad position.
General comments?
Terrible on gas!
The car tends to idle rough, for no apparent reason. Sometimes it runs very very well, other times it's sluggish.
Very good off the line when it feels like it, other times it likes to stall out.
