My PT has a knock, clunk, etc, under my feet I feel it at times, not consistant and sometimes my dash shakes. I have had suspention done, shocks and struts, and some circle part with a square in the middle. Still have it, someone thought it might be motor mounts,,, OMG,,, what is that! I have had it to mechanic 6 times and it is getting very expensive, I love my PT, but I have to figure this out, please help! Has this been a problem for 2001 LE.
Love it! Only negative comment is blind spots!
Please be more specific. When you hear the clunk? If occurs when you are driving straight, on small bumps, can be either stabilizer bar links or bushings or both. Normally, it dissapears when turn either way.
It may be the front axle drive shafts wearing.
I took it to dealer for second time to fix A/C, it blew warm air. Could not find problem, recharged unit. I also had this clunk, dealer told me it was loose spare tire cage. They tightened it and noise was still there. Second round, problem with a/c and persistent clunk. This time they found it, the rear stablizer bar was loose, tightened that and clunk when away! Bad news is the a/c problem is evaporator leaking and that will cost big bucks ($1200), good news is they can fix my cracked dash for only the cost of parts ($250) because the evaporator is under the dash and they will most likely break it while removing it to do repair. Car is stored in garage in Florida with 45,000 miles on only. Go figure!
I call Chrysler about my 2001 PT Cruiser. The dash is cracked. If we can get everyone to call 1-800-992-1997 or email Chrysler they will recall the dashboards, but we must get a large amount of complaints in. It costs about 700.00 with parts and labor to replace the dash.
I recently bought a 2001 PT Cruiser, it idles rough, it has 94K miles on it, will changing the plugs & plug wires correct the problem? It is worse when the AC is on. I do not have a lot of $, I had to let my Jeep Liberty go to the repo man :( No work here in Florida, IF the plugs & wires will help, I can do that & live with it.
Thanx very much!
Patty.
