2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser Limited Edition review from North America
"A jewel"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Front: struts, sway bar bushings, control arms
rear - bell crank and sway bars.
Sway bar links.
Radiator.
Timing belt (twice).
Windshield (twice, stone damage).
General comments?
Might seem like a lot of repairs, but with 200K miles of NYC driving, it's been quite a bargain. Probably equivalent to 400K miles on normal roads.
Uses about a qt of oil every 2000 miles.
I did the repairs myself.
At present it drives and looks (except for stone chips) as new. Its utility amazes me. It's my daily driver, truck and "limo".
I've yet to have a new passenger that wasn't amazed with it, and the interior room.
If I had one wish it's that Chrysler didn't discontinue it. I can't help but think it's the best car they've ever built.
I just did the suspension work, parts about $700. I considered buying another, but it runs so well I fixed it. No regrets.
