1992 Chrysler Saratoga SE review from Netherlands
"Business-class traveling for economy-class prices"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Since I own it: nothing (yet).
General comments?
I bought it at a Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge dealer. It has always been well maintained (every 10.000 km) by the previous owner. I'm the second owner.
Cosmetically the car is a disaster: damage on the left front-fender, scratches on the weirdest places and cigarette burns all over the interior.
Saratoga's are very cheap to get in the Netherlands. I had to buy a cheap car quick because my wife needs a car for her job as well and she truly hates the Saratoga's looks. So she's using our other car. Fine with me! I've always had a special place in my heart for US cars (owned an 87 T-bird a few years ago). I drive the Saratoga to work, which is 240 km each day.
If the car wasn't in such a terrible state I would keep it, but I will sell it within a few weeks time.
The Saratoga is very comfortable, quiet, and has perfect road handling. The power-steering is perfect: not too much not too little.
The switch for the interior-light has the most logical place that I've ever seen: integrated in the headlights-switch. Pull=headlights on and turn it to the left=interior-light on. Brilliant!
The car is relatively small on the outside which makes it easy to park. The interior-space is impressive, especially with the backseat down.
I'm sorry that I have to sell it in a few weeks time because this car makes me feel very secure on our overcrowded roads filled with speed-devils. But I have to get something newer. I can't afford to be stranded on my way to work.
To me it's traveling first class in this fine car. 110 kilometers an hour with Hank Williams on the car-stereo. Who could ask for more?
