1998 Chrysler Sebring Convertible LXI review from North America

"Excellent ride and value"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Broken fuel line (minor; existed when I bought the car used) ; tail light burned out; replaced brakes; all minor wear and tear.

General comments?

This car has been excellent. I'm now in the market for a newer one.

It handles great. It has plenty of off-the-line pep, which is especially important for city driving if you're a bit impatient, which I am.

The ride is a bit stiff, but I've never been a fan of the 'no-road-feel' type of car. If you're looking for something that's a bit sporty, you have to expect some feel of the road.

The cab forward design makes the car "look" fast all the time.

One of the best features, in my opinion, is the back seat. It's tough to find a mid-priced American made convertible with a real back seat. This one has more room than its competitors (e.g., Mustang convertible and a few others). Very nice if you have to haul 4 people around.

The infinity stereo really is nice. I haven't had any problems with the leather seats. They look as new as when I got it. The car is parked in parking garages all the time, however, so I imagine the sun would do some damage if I regularly parked outside.

Thus far, I've done normal maintenance and that's about it. I gave it a minor tune-up at 55,000, and some new brake pads, and those have been the single most expensive maintenance items.

The car is very fun to drive, in my opinion, and it's a great convertible if you occasionally have more than one passenger, or just need a bit of extra room for groceries.
