"If you like spending money buy this car"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Brakes have to be replaced like every 3 months.

Passenger side seat is getting stuck

at the bottom making it hard to slide

it forward or to adjust to passengers

desired leg space.

Engine light used to turn on and off frequently until finally it turned on and has stayed on ever since.

Rotors are super wasted and need to be replaced because I've already had them cut a bunch of times to stop screeching noise.

Oxygen sensors also have to be replaced

and there is 5 of them so I called the Chrysler dealership and they said it costs about $85 each sensor.

Front lights are all foggy need to be replaced because they look messed up (not clear) around $300-something for pair according to Chrysler.

Transmission was rebuilt on about the 3 month of when I got my car. Cost about $1200.

Transmission went out so I bought a new one $1900.

Car stopped working all of a sudden.

So I thought it was the spark plugs

because it had power, but didn't want to start. (it just made a noise like if something is spinning, but not allowing the car to start). So I took it to get a complete tune up.

Spent about $120 on parts alone (made sure they were performace parts). Spark pluggs, wires, transmission oil change, timing belt and everything. Plus I had to pay for labor so it came out to about $350 total cause spark plugs are underneath the top layer and all that junk.

After all that Car still didn't turn on.

Took to another shop and they said it was the Valves that were bent and the Engine heads were messed up.

Valves were resurfaced and polished and heads were replaced. That's 24 valves about $17 a valve *figure it out. Plus around $350 for labor that's what my cousin's husband will charge me cause labor for that was about $500-$600 (so he's hooking me up with a very low price compared to other locations I got estimates from).

Plus I had to buy all the gasket kit. Which cost about $180 at O Reilly Auto parts.

After my cousins husband who works at a shop had all of that replaced he said that the car still doesn't want to turn on.

*Now he says it might be a sensor of some kind...

*ANY suggestions email me at bizzy_bone_2k@yahoo.com.

General comments?

Car looks great all.

Get great compliments because I got it all pretty from the outside.

Race wing, White Race rims,

K&N chrome intake.

Definitely turns heads, but it's a piece of junk.

Very non reliable car.

First and Last time I buy a Chrysler.

I had the same problem with mine not wanting to turn on-twice. The first time it was my starter ($120.00), the next time it was my ignition wire and bad battery totaling $300.00.yeah, I know I got ripped off, but what can you do. Over all I think this car is a pretty piece of crap.

My daughter & son-in-law have been in HELL with their Sebring. They have spent more on car parts and repairs than they would have spent buying a new car. Dealership would not help at all, it is my daughter's problem. Transmission (twice), wiring, not radio, wheel bearings, tires, etc.. They have a (3) year old daughter, and cannot afford to miss work, so they have to sink monies for repairs plus make car payments.

I know how you feel. I bought my car with 60,000 miles on it and the tranny went out at 65,000. Then I found out the tranny had already been replaced once. Since then I have went through 3 other trannys and it has 98,000 and it is slipping again. I think 5 trannys is a little ridiculous.

I was intending to buy a nice Sebring Convertible and have it shipped to England.

I think I changed my mind now, I am sorry for you guys with such problems, but glad I read about them before spending lots of cash.

I have a 1996 LXI and if any of you are still reading this it has 108000 miles on it and still haven't had any problems except for the deluge of recalls. I've been driving this car since I drove it off the lot on October of 95, I changed the stock radio cause it was a piece of junk. I added a little on to the car and haven't had any problems. The only problem I have had was a bad wire in the a/c. That was fixed under waranty quickly and efficiently. I recently acquired the new Chrysler crossfire, it is a Mercedes made in America. I would defenetly recommend Chrysler.

I have a 1996 LXI with 160,000 miles on it. Other than the normal maintenance, I have had no trouble with it. Now, like many of the rest of you, it will not start. My husband has tried numerous things with no success. We are now going to try the starter and the ignition wire. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. E-mail me at kakins@cfl.rr.com. If this is the only trouble I have after 160,000 miles, then I think this car is all right. My next vehicle purchase will be a Chrysler. I love it. And what's more amazing is that I live in florida near the beaches and there is not one bit of rust on the car.

I have a 1996 Chrysler Se-bring Convertible J X, I had 2 fuel pumps replaced, timing belt, and water pump. When the car shop said they completed their work and I picked my car up it started blowing out blue smoke and stuttering. They told me that my heads were bent, but the car is still drivable. Can someone please give me some input of what they think might be wrong with my pretty white piece of junk? simonaer31@aol.com.

If anyone can help me that would be great. I am forever having problems with the transmission on my car. I find myself pouring at least 2 - 3 bottles of tranny fluid every 2 or 3 weeks in the car. I haven't noticed any leaks whatsoever so what is the problem? I just recently had my car die out on me so my boyfriend has taken it to the shop. They told him that there are 2 switches in the exhaust and one of them is not coming on as it is supposed to. They also said something like the coolant is not switching on either. What do I do? How much is this going to cost me! help!!!

Howdy, just wanted to add my two cents worth. My wife bought a 97 Sebring LXI and it has been hell since. Have been through 2 transmissions, all O2 sensors have gone out, ball joints and frontend parts seem to be falling apart all at the same time, and now to top it all off, it won't start.

Oh, did I mention that it leaks oil from all seals, and has had a "high pitch whine" from the drive train for 2 years now.

Don't get me wrong, the cars look really good going down the road, but, it's keeping them running that seems to be the problem with everyone. Have looked under search "Sebring starter" tonight, a lot of problems all over, wish we would have looked into these cars a bit more before buying the pretty piece :{

Hello just another person who bought the Chrysler sebring 1996 and it won't start, 4 people told me that it could either be that the starter went out or the battery is weak, so I will replace both and hopefully that will be all. I am a college student and I can't afford to spend a lot of money.

I bought a 1997 Sebring LXi Convertible.

I had it 2 weeks and the back window busted in a zillion pieces. I was absolutely outdone; that was what I got for Christmas this year. I love my Sebring, but it's becoming a headache.

Now my check engine soon light stays on, and the oil light comes on, and the whole car shuts down, but this seems to happen at every stop sign or corner without warning, or when I slow down. This can be very dangerous on the highway. I'm hoping it's just a weak fuel pump and nothing more.

I will be getting my top and back glass replaced soon, and whatever is going on with the check engine soon light.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Please email me at henrythe8th8@hotmail.com and let me know something.

I have a 1996 Chrysler Sebring LXI, I have had nothing, but problems with my car as well. I've had to replace the front right calliper, both front ball joints, both back wheelbarings, I've had a coolant flush cause the radiator is leaking fluid, but can't find the leak. Replaced the water pump, replaced all rodars and breaks and they are wearing fast... Replaced all 4 tires and they still wear on the inside every 5 months. The heater stopped working over the winter and the mechanic can't find a problem with it. When it's cold outside the transmission gets stuck in low gear, or loses all gears 'till the car warms up and it shifts. The front lights are fogged over. Replaced one oxygen censer and now 3 months later another one needs replacing, we've replaced oxygen censers 5 times. Now the motor is trying to turn over, but won't fire up. Battery is good, it's getting gas and a spark. Over all I've spent 3000.00 on this car and now with the motor not turning over it's going to get that much more expensive. It's a nice looking car, but not worth it with the problems.

I just bought my sebring lxi a year ago, and as many of you, it has been a year in hell.

This is my first car and I guess a very bad choice.

I've had the flywheel replaced, new radiator, two valves replaced, new exhaust, and a numerous amount of tires.

I've spent more money on it than what I actually bought it for. the transmission is a mess, but still runs. I'm going to sell it before my transmission is totally ruined.

For those of you thinking of buying a sebring, think twice before you actually purchase it.

I bought Chrysler Sebring LXI 1999 at 125K miles on it. It ran well till it reached 130k miles. Suddenly one fine day when I started out from my home not more than 1/4 mile, it suddenly stopped. I tried to start again and it never wants to start. I took it dealer. It is still with him with no reply.

Hope something less expensive happened...
