"A reliability and dealer service nightmare"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Engine has been rebuilt.

Brake rotors have warped.

Side mouldings fell off.

Windshield moulding peeled off.

Rims bend easily.

Front end too low to the ground.

Drive belt squeals.

General comments?

I would never ever again buy another Chrysler product.

Did you put oil in it? My Sebring is awesome and you must have either not maintained it properly or got a lemon... too bad you have to hate the whole Chrysler company because of one car... oh my cup holder broke and I also make sure I take it to a good dealer who wants to help me... Crown Dodge...

It's almost as if I am reading a review of my own Chrysler Sebring!!! I also would not purchase another Chrysler vehicle. It's not worth the money to risk it!! I hope they improve with the merger but I won't be giving them another chance unless I have money to blow.

I agree. The suspension on this vehicle stinks. I bought this car a little over a year ago and have already sunk $3600 into my 97 Sebring. I will never again buy a Chrysler product.

I have owned a 98 Chrysler Sebring for about a year now, the side panels have been recalled and the lower lateral ball joints as well.

Although there were a few recalled parts, it seems to be all cosmetic. As long as my engine runs great and it does, I take it for oil change every 3 months and MY SEBRING IS THE BEST!

My wife bought a Chrysler Sebring LXI 2 door hard top. This is a 2000 though. All of the rims are bent causing me to loose several hundreds of dollars to bend them back out. The driver's side panel caved in. Brakes suck.Front is too low. Today is July 26, 2002 I own a Pontiac Bonneville 1990. I bought it for $700.00 off the street. I can say my car is much more better than my wife's Sebring. But I'm not finished yet. She is now driving my car and I'm drive the Sebring. The Sebring is sitting on a doughnut and one rim is bent again. The right back side is making a horrible sound. Maybe the brakes. Today I wrote out a check again so she can by new rims for this peace of you know what. This car was almost the cause of a divorce. But still my wife loves this thing. Yah I called it a thing this is the biggest rip off of all time. Chrysler should recall every Sebring that was ever made and fix it to the fullest extent. I got more stuff to say, but I'll stop here. Who ever reads this take it and print it because if you are considering to buy this thing you are crazy.Don't buy this thing.

I own a 98 sebring coupe, it was great for the first 12000 kilometers, the suspension is crap, it breaks so easily. the tranny leaks everywhere, I put a grand in fixing the leak 2 weeks ago now another one has appeared, the engine runs good some days and others it doesn't, the wheel covers are peeling, it has no turning radius, and now the engine light is on, and I can't figure out why. this only happened two days ago, but it seems to run better now that the light is on, so I'm not getting it fixed. I bet that someone at chrysler got very rich from ripping off a lot of people. the funny thing is that the only part (that I can figure out) on it that chrysler made is the emblem on the front, the rest is a mitsubishi, and it still costs 300 dollars for a gasket. why? when mitsubishi makes cheap cars??? Anyone want to buy it???

I own a 1998 Serbing and it is the worst vehicle I have ever owned. I have always been conscience of keeping my car well maintained, but it has not mattered. In a span of two week I spent $1,300 to replace the distributor, $900.00 to replace a part in the transmission and then the passenger side panel came loose. I will never by another Chrysler and will advise others to stay clear of them as well.

I also own a 1998 sebring. I try to keep the maintenance up, but it seems like I am working to fix this car. I can never save any money. My engine light came on too, but the problem was not with my engine. It was the ABS sensor which cost $150 to fix. I have spent over $2000.00 to fix this car since I purchased it 3 years ago. Now on top of everything else, it is time to have some major work done to it and I really don't think its worth the money that I am putting into it. Has anyone ever checked the trade in value on this car? That should tell you enough.

We bought 1998 Sebring LXi with sunroof. As of today we only have 28222 actual miles on the car. The driver side seat will not move forward and we took it to Crown Chrysler in Greensboro today and they quoted us a price of $749.00 to fix the problem, also the rear wiew mirror is so bad you cannot use it, Crown wants $424.00 to install a new one. Never will I buy another Chrysler product. Buyer be aware! Car looks nice, but vibrates like hell @ 60 miles or higher.

I just bought a 1998 Sebring Lxi hardtop with a sunroof. I bought it really cheap, so I w am really happy. But after reading these comments, I am now scared that I will be dumping a lot of money into it. There are some problems... the engine light is also on in my car (I was told it is the oxygen sensor and am not fixing), the sunroof leaks a little, and it rides rough over 70 mph. I was hoping this car would last me a couple of years until I can afford to buy a new one, but from these comments, I should sell it now and go back to Pontiac. My dad told me to not buy a Chrysler... I should have listened.

We have 1998 Sebring coupe. Has 121,235 miles on it. Its been a very good car for my wife to drive. Its expensive for a tune-up so far we had it done twice. No big problems yet, except the recalls, but that was minor. Brakes do squeak a little, the sunroof started to leak about 1 year ago. Overall it has been a very good car to drive.

I own a chrysler sebring 98, for the past two years I've been spending at least 6000.00 worth in repairs, when I got the car it was pretty good, the engine was fine, runs very fast and everything, almost a year and a half ago, is like all of the sudden, the car was falling apart, transmission differential pin came off, braking the outer case, that was like 2000.00 to repair, now the transmission's planetary is bad again, lower control arms were replaced by me, the suspension suck, the wind shield rear view mirror licks some liquid and messed up my dashboard, door panels I had to replaced them, tires??? it was the never ending story until I fix the rack and pinion that cost me 550.00, the bearings, like 200.00,and last, but not least, the started, I won't buy ever again a Chrysler in my life, I can't believe a domestic car company would rip off so bad, than a foreign car company, drive a Honda, BMW or Toyota for 500,000 miles, and you will see, they not even burn a fuse, but some American car are ones worst nightmare.

I own a 2000 chrylser sebring hardtop with a sunroof and my car has been great. Yes, it is low to the ground and scratches the bottom on low dips, but other than that it has been great. It rides really well and the brakes are great. It even has a mileage of 100,800. The owner before kept the maintenance up on it so it runs great. So I actually have no problem owning my '00 Sebring.

I too own a 1998 Chrysler Sebring LXI and I wish I had found this website before I purchased it. I've owned it for only two (2) years and have spent more on this car than what I make. I've had to take out a small loan to repair her and that was only in the first 8 months of owning her. Where to begin... had to have the rack & pinion replaced, stil doesn't drive right. The A/C went on me and then the alternator. But wait, there's more. I also have the "check engine light" on and was told that it's the catalytic converter. I called Chrysler and Thank God that's still under warranty. I too think it's a beautiful car, but don't judge a book by it's cover! After spending over $2,500+ on her I say "Uncle!" But for all of you who are going through the same there is some good news. We all know this car should have been recalled, but to date has not. Call/write Chrysler with your complaint (s) and make sure you include a copy of all of your receipts for repairs and they will reimburse you. They know they failed us, it's time we make them pay for misleading us. We bought American cars and some of us got a Mitsubishi engine with it, VERY misleading! Let Chrysler know that we supported American cars and had faith in buying one. Shame on you Chrysler for misleading us, your faithful American customers who believed in you. I have had nothing, but problems with this car, I get one thing repaired and 3 more things fail. Chrysler, you have failed us all.

Bought my 98 Sebring new. First, doorhandles broke off, then side panels came off. Front sits too low and is broken in half. Check engine has gone on and off for years. Have spent $3000 on various things to try and get it to stay off, to no avail. So many major and minor repairs have been done, they are too many to list. Transmission is now starting to shift hard. Am finally giving up on this car. Giving it away because I feel too bad to sell it to another person. Will never buy another Chrysler-ever!!! Still can't believe Chrysler got away with not recalling that low front end!!!
