At 120,000 miles you may hear the engine tick and/or knock - this is very annoying. Just after using Lucas Oil Stabilizer in my 98 Chrysler Sebring Coupe LXI the engine began ticking and then I saw oil leaking; as if the stuff is too thick and creates too much pressure in the engine, resulting in oil leaking out of the seals. Also, the sunroof seal needs replacing and the back end of the car is lop sided. The car is lower on the drivers side than the passengers side.
I purchased a used 1998 Sebring LXI hardtop in 2003 when it had only 50,000 km on it. Car was in mint condition. I have since put on another 57,000 km and have had no trouble whatsoever. I absolutely love this car and it has been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned.
I have a 1998 Sebring Convertible and the dash lights suddenly went out. Has anyone had a problem? Checked fuses and they are okay.
Had so many problems with this car: 3 complete air conditioning systems, cracked rims, rear window defogger connection, blower motor for heater.
Beautiful car for gas mileage.
One of the best cars I've had. Great engine, has lots of power, great sound system. I am now aproaching the 360 000 KM mark, sitting at 356 091 right now.
The front end is definitly too low, my front "bumber" if you could say had to be pulled up, I just fixed that myself.
The car has been nothing short but awesome, haven't cost a lot in repairs. I love my sebring!
I HAVE a 1999 Sebring LXI coupe.. I absolutely love this car and it runs like a champ. It has 125,000 miles on it, and had 103,000 miles on it when I bought it in June of 2007.
Only problem is I want a FASTER engine in my car, and want to soup this crap up and make it fast. I love the car, have totally redone it, the only thing that's left now is engine/turbo/catback exhaust. I just don't know what engine is fast/strong enough to pull this heavy beast and still run fast.
I have a 1998 Sebring LXI Coupe.
The check engine light has just came on. Also upon coming on, the transmission will be fine one minute then it will not shift out of first gear. But if you stop for a few minutes, then restart the car, it will drive through all gears for a while, then it starts all over again, it's more often now.
This is my only transportation for my special needs child. Don't have dealership money. Please help someone as soon as possible.
I just bought a 1998 Special edition Sebring coupe paid only 1300 for it, and it runs like a champ and has over 200,000 miles on it ~ I'm guessing from what I've read here the car has been practically rebuilt as it is in near mint condition! At first I thought the ride was too hard and I felt every bump in the road.. Let some air out of the tires and wow! Rides like a Cadillac but with some power!!!
Nice ride once all the bugs are gotten out of it.
I have a 1998 Sebring LX coupe! My first car was a 2004 Ford Taurus. The transmission went out! So then I got my Sebring from a dealership for 4,000! It only had 98,00 miles on it!
The back window wanna be tint, has loads of bubbles in it, so I can't see! And my rear view mirror is anti fog all the time! AND my steering wheel shakes a lot, and when I idle it makes this noise! it comes out that I need a new front right wheel bearing and a idler pulley thing! So besides all that! I LOVE MY CAR!!! And her name is Goldie! LOL well yeah it's great on gas!
Hi! Does anyone know where the induction coil is for a Chrysler Sebring Coupe LXI 1998?
Has anyone had to replace the ball joints? I read something about a recall, I just purchased the car used from someone who had no use for it and was just getting parking tickets because it was parked on the road.
I know I need to replace the rotors because the car pulsates when braking, but the car starts fine. Idles nice, and I just filled her up with fresh oil.
Any advice someone could give me as what to keep an eye on? These negative comments are starting to worry me, yes the car only has 150,000 kilometers, works fine as of now but should I be weary of anything?
I purchased a 1997 Sebring Coupe a few months ago for a whopping $1000. So far I'd have to say I'm impressed. Given that the car is about 12 years old, I was expecting many more problems than what I've had to fix.
The front was broken when I purchased it, but it's completely covered by a Le-Bra which doesn't look half bad against the white paint. After the first week of scraping it on curbs in parking lots, I figured out how to avoid doing so (Which seems to be a concept beyond many previous posters). Blaming Chrysler for your cracked bumper is like blaming them for the scratches on your door when you hit it with a shopping cart. Don't hit things with your car, and I guarantee you won't have problems associated with hitting things with your car.
The serpentine belt also squealed. Took about a half-hour to tighten. Replaced the power steering belt while I was at it, cost about $15. Chrysler's not the one who charges for repairs, mechanics are. Blaming them for high repair costs is just ridiculous.
There are very few cars that can go over a decade without regular maintenance. If you don't know how to open the hood, expect to be pouring money into some mechanic's pocket. The same goes for most cars.
