1987 Citroen 2CV Speciale (2CV6) review from UK and Ireland
"One of a kind in cars - enormous fun!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Required welding to chassis when 3 years old, but original chassis still now.
Minor body rusting bonnet hinge area.
Two sets kingpins in 16 years.
One set steering arms replaced.
Consumed numerous sets of wiper blades.
On third hood now. Last about 5 years.
General comments?
Absurd lifestyle machine, incredibly slow, extremely comfortable.
2CVs built in late 80s are poorly built in certain respects compared with early models.
Hoods require replacing regularly.
Barely adequate performance for some road situations.
Car with masses of character and "classic" appeal.
Strange engineering. Some service procedures are difficult to undertake quickly.
Unburstable engine.
