1969 Citroen 2CV Mehari review from North America
"A great summer car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The Master Brake Cylinder failed.
A Wheel Bearing failed.
General comments?
This is a fun car for roundabout town kind of driving.
It is really a French Jeep, and is more than happy in the sand dunes and rocks. The body is plastic, (ABS), and as such, it is easily repaired.
Do not expect to burn up the autobahn, as it struggles along at 55 mph. However, at 50 miles per US gallon, why complain?
Due to its putt-putt torque and speed, I installed a Visa engine using the same transmission. It now goes faster than I care to on the highway, and about the same gas mileage. Plus it actually accelerates up hills.
