1989 Citroen AX GT review from UK and Ireland

Not much actually, I have to diagree with the reviews here which list lots of things as having to be replaced as most are normal wear and tear items and some are due to poor care and attention on the part of previous owners.

My horn did pack up once, £14.99 for a pair of new ones from Halfords.

I did rebuild the engine, but only because I thought it would be a good idea with 88K on the clock, not because it needed it.

The LAD gasflowed head makes a lot of difference, 0-60 in 7.9 along with the PiperX and other little mods (Scorpion full stainless steel exhaust).

I've swapped the standard suspension for Spax adjustable damper setup and it corners like a roller skate, the interiors stripped out, I've got Cobra Monnaco front seats and lots of other bits.

To be honest I got it for a bargain price in good condition and am really happy with it. It's quick and handles well if you spend a bit of cash on it. For the cash you can't get better.

As for the brakes, well there's a weak point on every car, they're enough; that's the best description, they do the job. I've got drilled and grooved discs with braided lines and Mintex pads and while it's much better they're still not great.
