1988 Citroen BX 19GTi 16v review from Spain
"What a combination of sporty class and family practicality - a typical Citroën great!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
2 sets of spheres changed
hydraulic return pipes
alternator
diff
heater fan
valve stem oil seals.
General comments?
What a great handling car, especially on Michelin Pilots.
The brakes are absolutely the best in the world and, even though I drive like a bat out of hell, I didn't have to change the front pads until 185,000 km. I still haven't changed the rear pads!
The interior and boot space are so good you'd think you had a car two sizes up.
This is a car that really talks to you, but it still has that magical Citroën ride which nobody can imagine until they've tried it.
No rust and original exhaust.
The car started to use a lot of oil and I started to think the end had come, but I changed the valve stem oil seals (buy silicon rubber, not Citroën's natural rubber) and now have had to add none in three years apart from routine oilchanges.
It's so light that 160 bhp makes it go really well. I reckon it would sell new now.
