1989 Citroen BX RE review from UK and Ireland
"This is a car which still feels ahead of it's time"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Spark plugs needed changing 128,050 miles.
Drivers seat is starting to wear thin.
Brakes are beginning to stick.
Exhaust needs replacing due to rust holes.
Rust occurring near the corner of the rear wheel arch.
General comments?
Other than the above the car feels brand new to me.
It shoots off with the smallest touch to the gas like a rocket due to it's light weight build which I have to say is still in good quality for it's year.
Breaking in this is good due to it having all around disk brakes which seem to stop more quicker then cars with anti lock braking systems.
The suspension is brilliant and wish they still made a new car just like this with it's magic carpet ride and its quirky looking character.
For the basic model it has allot to offer for its year front electric windows, clever concealed radio, spacious and comfortable interior and a very large boot area.
These cars are underrated by looks, but you know what they say never judge a book by its cover because this is one of those which may become an icon like the famous Citroen D's which is known for its spaceship looks and clever technology.
