The only things that have been wrong are that there was a small paint blemish on the roof near the windscreen, but this was easily sorted and roof sprayed by dealer under warranty.
Slight knocking from drivers side front wheel, but will discuss at cars first service.
A couple of squeaks and ratteles, but again will discuss at first service.
When I was looking to buy a car, I looked and test drove all the usual 3 door medium hatchbacks, but none stood out so much as this car.
The center of the steering wheel doesn't move and though its strange to get used to at first, its excellent when in normal everyday use. Everything is logically placed and has a quality feel to it.
I had a C3 while the roof was being sprayed and I couldn't believe that the 2 cars were from the same manufacture. so many worlds apart from the rest of the Citroen range.
Excellent dealer network, have found that they will help you as much as they can.
Flip out boot divider is another great innovation as I hate having things that roll around the boot when going round corners or turning slightly.
Very economical diesel engine, has been improving all the time currently running at 57mpg.
Plenty of space all around this car, feels a lot bigger inside than it actually is, doesn't feel as cramped as Golf or Astra.
Amount of standard kit included with this car for the price is amazing, cruise control, climate control, speed limiter, auto wipers, auto lights, etc.
All the other models in this class seem to be very boring like the Astra and the Focus, but this car has won me over by the way it is different and it works.
The back window on my car (coupe) can be a little difficult to get used to, but is not a big problem.
Hope this review is helpful.
I had Citroen C4 coupe 2005, I bought it in June 2005 and it was an amazing outlooking car everybody was looking at it and asking me about it sometimes. The shape both interior and exterior are wonderful, the seats are comfortable and the dash board gives you the feeling of high technology. I had two minor problems and one major. Let me begin with the minor isuues:
1- The car started to make a weird noise in the engine when it starts after three months and when I took it to the maintenance shop they used to tell me it's a normal sound. This didn't have any effect on the car's power, but I hate to hear that noise.
2- After a snow week in January and when I wanted to go back home from my office the car's remote control system didn't work, the car gave me an error theft on the displaying screen and the engine didn't start. I had to go back home and bring the second key. When I asked the citroen shop that day about the problem they told me: "It's saturday today and the maintenance shop is closed so you have to wait till we open on monday again and he didn't give me any solution".
The Major problem is really huge and it could have killed me. I had never felt the car stable on the curves. On high speeds and on straight run roads it is, but on curves it's not. I was driving on a main street in Athens when I lost control and hit a wall. I entered the curve with the speed of 70 km/hr and when I turned the steering wheel the car moved more to the left side and I tried to return it back, but the car didn't respond and I hit the wall. Here I was waiting for the one of the six airbags to open, but none did and thank god my seat belt was on other wise I could have gone out from the front window. The car had a total loss, the damage almost reached the engine and the front window was cracked and when I asked why the airbag didn't open, simply they answered if there was a reason for the airbag to open it would have opened , I wonder what more reasons could be!?
That's only just over 40mph what kind of corner did you go into?
As at those speeds I have thrown my C4 round hairpin bends and its stays pretty much planted at those speeds. All I can think of at this point is maybe it was not the car, but driver error?
Seen people when the back end gets a little twitchy the first thing they do is go for the brake because they think there going to fast etc. That's what usually causes the accident. Not saying that's what happened, but it may have been the problem or if you lifted off the gas mid corner or tapped the clutch both of those things have the effect of sending the back end out due to the car having a bit of lift off oversteer. Hence why I'm thinking driver error over the car plus the fact I own a C4 VTR+ and it stays rather planted on corners.
I am thinking either driver error or perhaps a poor quality / very slippery road surface would have caused this - certainly not the car unless there was a fault eg. bald tyres. As for the airbags not going off they are set to only go off at certain times i. e a high speed impact. I would imagine there was a good reason they did not go off and the fact you was not injured probably shows the accident was not serious enough to warranty the airbags being deployed.

I purchased a C4 From Dutton forshaw Blackpool, after continuing problems with a Xsara Forte.
Within a very short time there was an error message displaying "Speed Control Failure" once Duttons were notified all they could say is there is an update which we will do and it will be corrected. Since that the error has occured countless times, to which Dutton Forshaw have no idea where the fault lies, They have spoke to Citroen (allegedly) and apparently the car is not recording faults. The new Citroen C4 Alive with Technology, but dead on the road.
Had 3 near misses where the engine stalled once at 70mph driving on motorway nearly missing A Truck, once nearly hitting an Audi A4, Then 70mph car stalled, escored to safety by RAC and Highways Agency, car collapsed at 50mph nearly hitting the following car, OOPS. After that Dutton Forshaw have no idea on what it is after 70 miles testing gave the keys back saying no idea. grrrrrrrr drove car 5miles and same fault. I'm either driving a lemon that no one can diagnose, or I'm loosing mind. only thing is all faults have been recorded on Camera.
Moral of the story is Never by a Citroen and Never Trust Dutton Forshaw.
Has anyone else had a similar problem?
Please help.
On your own with that one, but theres many things it could be. Control module, ECU etc. If its just dying id say possibly a faulty ECU is the culprit though. Sometimes these things happen with all electronics and the same can happen whatever car you get.
Seen it happen on other cars that are supposed to be luxury cars that are ultra reliable. They can't really say that when its spent a few times on the hard shoulder and bits fell off it though. My C4 on the other hand had a couple small niggly faults, but in the year I have had it the most annoying thing was a rattle that was easily fixed by tightening a screw.
Had my 110HDI VTR+ with EGS gearbox for just over a month. Absolutely delighted. Superb car.
No faults as yet.
Fuel economy excellent (averaging just under 50 mpg).
Almost silent on motorway at 70mph (only 2100 rpm)
Very comfortable.
High Spec (Cruise Control/Traction control. auto Lights, Wipers etc)
One delighted owner.

I don't know why why people purchase Citroens in the first place. I guess price is the over-riding determining factor in almost all cases. They should spend more and get a better quality, safer car.
Quality on them is fine. And the C4 carries the best safety rating in it's class. For Both passengers and pedestrians... Do your homework next time.
Yes you get the odd lemon, but the same is true of any brand.
After having Vauxhalls for many many years, I have for the last 3 years come to Citroen. My latest being a C4 VTS 2.0HDi, had the climate control repaired under warranty (common fault easily fixed by fitting new plastic cog on duct motor), all I can say about this is is "WOW", it looks like a £20k car and I paid close to a quarter of that. I am averaging 55mpg, yet when needing power to overtake it is there in abundance, my friends find it hard to believe it's a diesel (the only real give away being on start up). With all the steering wheel controls and gadgets I refer to myself as a pilot nowadays ;-)
