2006 Citroen C4 VTR from Egypt - Comments

Brake discs are real bad, they almost need replacement every 2000km, I already replaced them 3 times so far, admittedly it was my fault they were grooved the first time (ran on worn brake pads) but for the other 2 times it wasn't, dunno if that's because of the poor quality parts used here in Egypt.

The car electronics go crazy sometimes, the wipers can start on their own (happened only twice), the headlights (I installed after-market HELLA Xenon headlights) do sometimes get crazy and start flickering too (not sure whether its the xenon or the electronics that are malfunctioning)

A couple of times it just turns off by it self when I'm stopping for a red light or so, it just decides to turn off (which is so annoying and kinda embarrassing)

Some annoying rattles from various sources.

Although its not perfect, I love this car, it really turns heads (but again, I'm sure you've read that before)

It is real quick (for a 1.6) I smoked Lancers, BMW 316 (M/T) and A/T 318 and many others, I usually drive it to the limit, very good acceleration, very good brakes (although the discs wear out quickly, initially I though it couldn't handle how I abused them, but the problem is not specific to me, a lot of people I know experienced the same problem (and they drive smoothly)

The gear ratios are great, short and fast, but the final drive ratio (5th for me) is not very good, only managed to pull 196Km/H out of it so far.

Handles greatly, very responsive to the slightest move of the steering wheel.

Is great on a smooth road up to about 140Km/H, but above that is not very safe, but however can be if its loaded (could move from the left most lane on a highway almost 30m wide (not very good with lengths) to the rightmost lane at speeds over 180 very easily.

Doesn't feel at home on bumpy roads, the suspension is kinda stiff and can cause backaches if ur driving on bumpy roads (which are many in Egypt)

"Alive with Technology": dunno whether this is goo d or bad, but its certainly true, I was amazed to find out that even the horn is not sounded directly, but is first directed to an interface that issues the command to sound the horn :o

But the bad thing is... it could also be killed with technology, because the build quality of the main boards is not very high (although the control modules of the brakes and stuff are high quality Bosch and Siemens devices)

Thanks for your review. I guess it's a good sign that your car, after all, is still alive. Even with or without technology, it sounds like you're really putting it up to the test. Driving like a madman, and replacing electronics with third party-parts doesn't sound like something Citroën would recommend. If Citroën can survive that kind of abuse under Egyptian conditions it must be good.

Yeah, I'd agree with you!!! The fact it's still alive speaks volumes if the car is getting raced to the limit to that extent!!!

I bought one last June.. the handling is amazing... for a car slightly higher than a BMW 316 I believe it manages curves better...

I am really enjoying it... the electronics haven't started playing tricks on me yet :)

I'm glad I found a real review about this car.. I've been reading a lot about lately.. I really love the design & I've been thinking about buying one.. but the problem is that in Egypt there is only a one year guarantee... why is that???
