1982 Citroen CX Ath review from Turkey
"A very special beauty"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Apparently the previous owners didn't love her as much as they should. So my Athéna was quite troublesome. Many minor electrical problems (which sometimes left me desperate on the highways), a broken piston (i tried to see if the rotating speedometer would keep on turning to 0km/h after completing a whole turn above 210km/h speed, no it doesn't. It stops at 210km/h even if you speed up to 215km/h and this lesson cost me a piston and a week without my CX!), a broken ignition key, broken door locks,
a minor accident, broken coolant circulating pump kept me spent hours in the service. I made good friends there though! :-)
General comments?
Awesome car! If you have read this far that means you are interested in the CX. Don't hesitate and buy one if you don't have a critical financial balance.
These babies are somewhat fragile when compared to plain family cars. They are very complicated and special. So they should be looked after very well. It should be considered as a hobby car, a lovely adventure not a robust plain daily car.
Every single thing on this car is reverse of what we have been seeing on ordinary cars. So if you think you love this baby, then it should be yours. But if you just want some car for going to work and comeback, stay away and leave the CX to her addicts to care after.
