1985 Citroen CX GTi Turbo review from UK and Ireland
"Excellent, would own again tomorrow"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Minor electrical problems (connectors).
Oil pressure switch failed.
Accumulator sphere failed.
General comments?
This car was everything I expected, I had previously owned lesser spec CX's and the turbo petrol is the ultimate street car.
Handling cannot be faulted, only if pushed hard would understeer become apparant, and even then it was totally controllable.
The ride comfort has the exact right balance for comfort/performance.
My car did not have air con, and CX's famously suffer from poor ventilation. This was no exception.
The performance on this car is not fast by modern standards, but the engineers got its mid range performance spot on, the turbo is matched to the engine well and it shows with very little lag and excellent 4 gear 70-100 mph on road performace.
As others will tell you, the tyres are expensive for the factory alloys, but some alfa or aftermarket wheels will give you a much better tyre choice.
