2001 Citroen Picasso SX review from UK and Ireland
"An economical family car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The high level brake light came loose and this meant that the rear of the car was filled with red light when the brakes were applied. It was fixed under warranty.
General comments?
The excellent deal from Citroen tempted me to switch from a Scenic after 3 years of fault free ownership.
The Picasso has proven to be economical, 47mpg and reliable.
I wish that Citroen had given the car some more power! Volkswagen can get 120bhp or more from their deisel engines and they still have economy. On a trip to italy this winter a constant 90mph felt like hard work.
As a family car however the package is hard to beat, excellent use of space, a full size centre seat allows 3 child seats in the rear.
There could be improvements...
There is nowhere to store a drinks cup, cans are fine, but not cups.
The drivers seat could be more supportive on long journeys it is too soft and lacks lumber support, that said I have driven 720 miles in one day with a trailer attached.
I enjoy using the car, but my wife finds the steering heavy. Maybe this is due to the weight of the diesel engine?
One thing for sure, you can't fault the equipment level, just about every useful feature is included and the air conditioning is a treat.
Would I buy another? I am not sure, if the performance improved then yes.
