2000 Citroen Saxo VTR review from UK and Ireland
"Saxo on carbed rallye engine thrill!!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Crash damaged when I bought it.
General comments?
I bought the car for £900 as a Cat C, and after browsing eBay and scrapyards, I realised that there are loads of second hand parts readily available, and they're easy to tune.
I straight away opted for the 106 Rallye engine, giving me an extra 15hp and 1500rpm, and then fitted bike carbs so it now feels a lot more responsive, but the sound on full chatter is unreal; I would recommend bike carbs to any confident modifier.
My VTR only has 120mph on the clock, but I've been off that (on a track of course), and it might not be the fastest car on the road, but as I'm thrashing along country roads with the Saxo's handling and roar, I bet I'm having more fun than most people on the road.
I wouldn't recommend this car to any person, as it's got a narrow footwell and is really stiff, but for someone looking for cheap thrills, it's definitely recommended.
