"I own a Saxo 1.6 16v VTS, and I pulled out 6.8sec. from 0-60 and it hasn't been modified."

Don't worry, no one on here will disbelieve that a VTS did 0-60 in 6.8, but when I say a VTR did 0-60 8.5, people imply you're a liar. Funny how people don't call the 1.1, 1.4 or the VTS version of the Saxo, but soon as a VTR is brought up, you get all angry and love to type lengthy comments calling them.

"That video you gave is a joke. You started at 35 and didn't apply the throttle till 50mph."

No, it's not a joke. I put the pedal to the floor at 35mph all the way to 95mph. You can see it picks up around 50 because it is getting near to its maximum torque.

That video was done after the remap where the car is producing 110lbs ft of torque and 110bhp.

Like it or not, that video is accurate. And there is nothing wrong the car. It would hit 60 in about 8.5 seconds after the remap.

I didn't make the video in response to this discussion. Therefore it isn't bias in any way.

Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it's not accurate.

"You cannot prove a VTR will do 132mph because it won't, there is not enough power no matter how long the gearing is."

I will upload the video of me doing 132mph on youtube.

"In all fairness the cars I've owned since have all been quite a bit higher in performance and build quality - Integra Type R, Civic Type R, Leon Cupra R, ZR 160, Impreza etc etc."

Those cars are not impressive mate. I didn't buy my VTR for speed and don't know why you think I did, I took my bike test for that reason, a 250cc racer will smoke any of those cars you have owned, my car is just a run around and it's cheap to run.

"For the record, I don't hate the Saxo, just the overblown claims and baseball cap reputation that comes with them!"

Honda Civic Type R is the baseball cap car, and is far more chavy than a Saxo.

You didn't apply the throttle right. In 4th if you apply the throttle smoothly, you pick up speed much faster than planting your foot straight down, and that gives you a lag effect. Did you know with a smooth gear change and smooth clutch release you can achieve a faster time? A lot of you think ramming the gear and the clutch makes it faster, but no, it's all about being smooth, that's how I did 0-60 8.5, with the right revs and no wheelspin, perfect smooth change to 2nd, I did 0-60 in 8.5 on a stock 100bhp mk2 VTR. my average 0-60 was 8.8-9.0 and I achieved all this with proper equipment. I can prove all my claims.

Yup, I know how important smooth driving is in respect to acceleration, handling & stability, passenger comfort and mechanical sympathy. I have an IAM license (not too well thought of these days) but when I did it, it was the thing to have. I had to pass the test and part of that is to demonstrate that you're are able to put these things into practice.

Please upload a video of your own for comparison purposes so I can see where I am going wrong.

Thanks.

Well they're a damn site more impressive than your cars mate! You only seem to bring up the bike to make yourself feel better for having a poor performance car! You can t compare bikes to cars, and they will only smoke cars in a straight line; throw a few bends into it and it's bye bye biker!!

What did you buy the Saxo for? I'm guessing the TT must be your posh car then LOL!

I think you're wrong about the VTS as I disbelieve it will do 0-60 in 6.8. It's at best around 8 seconds!

There was nothing wrong with that video posted, I thought it pulled marginally better than I expected.

Funny how only after all these pages you mention the 0-60 runs were timed with 'proper timing equipment'...

Just uploaded my VTR accelerating in 4th gear from 25mph-80mph, and it pulls stronger than your 110bhp vtr and mine is stock, why is that? Because I applied the throttle smoothly.

Almost certain I found it.

No wonder he didn't post a link up, that is so far from proof it actually made me laugh.

On a side note, if that is your video, 'SaxoPowerN1' is the same username I suggested you were under on the Saxo forum and you denied it.

I agree with someone elses earlier post; only someone looking for an argument would make the sort of claims you made (both overrating your car and very likely your abilities as a driver).

Well they're a damn site more impressive than your cars mate!

Can you prove you owned any of them? Anyone can say they own those cars on the Internet, and if you have owned all them, what a waste of money, no offence, but that why I took my bike test to save money on performance. I got my R6 second hand for 3k, how much all those cars cost you? Any of them do 0-60 in 2.9 seconds? Any do 1/4 mile 10.5 @ 132mph?? No, I didn't think so.

I like my Saxo VTR much more than a Civic Type R. If I liked a Civic Type R, I'd be driving one, but no thank you.

Yeah you might as well just give up, I proved that a good driver behind the wheel with less bhp can out accelerate a more powerful car, E.G. my stock 100bhp VTR beat your 110bhp cammed VTR and I started at 25mph not 35mph, and while I'm at 80mph, you're just passing 70mph LOL.

Watch and learn.

I havn't denied anything, It is not rare for someone to have the same username on different websites, I said before I'm not a member of a Saxo site.

"No wonder he didn't post a link up, that is so far from proof it actually made me laugh."

It proves I can beat a 1.4 Clio diesel in 4th (which I already knew) and a cammed 110bhp VTR. In his video he starts at 35 and in mine I start at 25 and I reach 80mph first! Cause I'm better. Same with the Clio 182 I raced, he didn't apply the throttle right so he lagged it and I stayed in front. I proved my point, and now let this drop.
