1999 Citroen Saxo furio review from UK and Ireland

I had a fault with the engine management system during the first 18 months, causing the revs to idle erratically at times. The problem went away on its own eventually.

Central locking remote failed after a year.

Ignition coil broke at 18,000 miles.

Rust began to develop in the engine bay after three and a half years. (repaired by dealer).

Brake problems developed at 78,000 miles, causing juddering and damage to the front disc's. I Had the car checked over at a number of garages as I suspected a suspension or wheel hub fault, but no fault was found. I changed the brake pads and disc's yet the problem returned.

Engine was beginning to sound worn by 80,000 miles.

The car was quick for a 1.4 and handled

well.

The Seats were comfy, but the driving position was cramped and lacked any decent range of adjustment.

Excellent MPG for the performance and reasonble insurance costs, but Citroen dealers are a rip off for servicing and repairs. I found a decent Citroen specialist and cut labor rates by a half once the warranty ran out.

The Saxo had pretty poor build quality and a few faults, but mine only ever broke down once in 5 years and 83,000 miles. It also started first time and every time in that time on the original battery.
