1997 Citroen Xantia TD SX review from UK and Ireland
"Best sporty diesel executive for its age"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Clutch clip snapped at 100,000 miles. One hours labour and cost about £40.
Overheating engine, I replaced the radiator at 120,000 miles.
Usual remote radio control problems:- The volume buttons sometimes change station settings.
The suspension has got very shuddery at 130,000 miles. I suspect our Irish roads. It may be the spheres need replacing.
General comments?
An absolute joy to own. It has let me down once or twice but I wouldn't hold that against the car.
I got this car in London from an auction, and drove it back to Dublin. The roadholding is superb and I found myself unaware I was speeding.
I got 45,000 miles out of Continental ContiEco tyres, as recommended by Citroen, and for my first 20,000 miles, I got up to 50 miles per gallon at motorway speeds.
I have problems with the suspension now but I believe that a change of spheres will sort that out.
