"The Drive and feel of this car is magnificent!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Amazingly Nothing except normal wear items like wipers and tyres!!!

General comments?

I drove a E36 BMW manual which is faster on accleration, but for high speed stability and ultra quick handling, the xantia is truly awesome.

At speeds of 200plus kmh it makes you feel really confident.

It has passive rear wheel steering and Hydractive suspension which sorts out the comfort on my long drives.

It has been truly reliable since I got it new after sorting out the odd stereo problem. Fuel consumption is abt 14km/L for highway and 10/11km litre for city driving which is decent for an auto car.

The interior is dark, chunky and functional and not Hip and fun like new models. Some might call it old fashioned and functional. My wife doesn't like it.

The xantia is replaced in 2001 by the C5

which I am at two minds to buy. After 3 test drives, I still find that the C5 is not so good in handling, but perhaps it is a much bigger and cumbersome car.

I have just bought a Xantia (X reg 2000) following a N 1996 which I have just swapped. The C5 is not so nice so I got the latest HDI-2000 and being the last of the range has all of the goodies. It is a superb motor. I have to use Citroens for the suspension as I have has 2 discs removed and can't take hard rides. I have had, in the past, a GS, GSA, BX14RE, BX19RD turbo and the 2 Xantas. all since 1979. The only problem with the last (N reg) car was severe electrical problems, but they were cured by either clouting the unit under the passenger seat (hazard alarm unit) or WD40 in the ignition switch (rear window heater and interior heater blower). To summarise - new Xantia terrific!!!

AHW.
