1996 Citroen Xantia SXi review from UK and Ireland

Remote central locking has given up and not been fixed because of the cost.

Rear wiper only works when it feels like it.

Drivers door bottom hinge welding has split.

ABS warning light comes on for no apparent reason the goes out again after a few miles.

Drivers side front suspension leg failed and pushed the sphere through the bonnet.

Keeps on blowing the drivers side brake light bulb every few months.

Water leak under the rear seats causing a flood in the rain.

Will not select 4th gear without a 3 second pause between 3rd and 4th.

When the central locking worked the rear drivers side door would stay deadlocked and required stripping to release it.

Gearbox is now making a strange rattling noise.

When I first acquired this car it was a pleasure to drive, but that was the calm before the storm. After a few minor faults I started to have major problems. The front suspension leg failed around its top mounting plate and ended up embedded in the bonnet. After I replaced the whole leg assembly the ride quality has never been the same. The car is now excessively bouncy on the front which can cause a problem braking hard on a bumpy road. The first Citroen that I have owned and will be the last.
