2001 Citroen Xsara 2.0 exclusive review from Kuwait
"Nonsense"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I have a 2.0 Citroen xsara, petrol exclusive, full option hatchback
car with me. Total kilometres driven only 96,000 Kms since 2002 (date
of manufacture).
In 2006, I had problems with engine stopping suddenly during summers.
I changed new thermostats. Again after one month coolant temperature
high signal came and car stopped again. I took the car to Citroen
garage and shelled out lot of money. They said that a cooling unit
that cools the engine coolant is not working. they took a part from
the car's heating device and substituted it for the engine coolant
cooling activity. So, the car will not have its heating device
working during winters. Now it is winter in Kuwait. 6 degrees air
temperature. I cannot and I am not using the heater at all. BUT IF I
DRIVE THE CAR FOR MORE THAN 40 KILOMETRES, IMMEDIATELY THE CAR
SHOWS 'STOP' SIGNAL AND STOPS. AT SIGNAL CROSSINGS, WHEN THE LEVER IS
AT NEUTRAL POSITION, THE CAR ACCELERATES VERY VERY HIGH AND COMES
BACK TO NORMAL POSITION. CITROEN GARAGE TOLD THAT THIS CAR IS THE
ONLY 2.0 LITRE XSARA IN KUWAIT. SO, SPARES HAVE TO BE ORDERED FROM
FRANCE. GARAGE TECHNICIANS TOLD THAT THE RADIATOR IS HAVING AN AIR
LOCK SOMETIMES WHICH WE ARE NOT ABLE TO FIND THE TROUBLED SPOT.
ALREADY I HAVE SPENT 220 KUWAITI DINARS, AGAIN 360 KUWAITI DINARS AND
AGAIN 432 KUWAITI DINARS. NOW, GARAGE TELLS THAT ANOTHER 700 KD MUST
BE PUMPED IN. PLEASE HELP ME TO KNOW WHY? THE NEW CAR OF XSARA
COSTS JUST 4000 KUWAITI DINARS. IF CITROEN GARAGE IN KUWAIT CANNOT
REPAIR THIS CAR BECAUSE IT IS A 2.0 LITRE PETROL, WHY THEY ARE NOT
TRAINED IN FRANCE? WHY CITROEN DOES NOT GIVE IMPORTANCE TO TRAINING
THE MECHANICS ALL OVER THE GLOBE.
The car is presently OK. only problem if I drive more than 40
kilometres at a stretch, it stops. again if I wait for 3 minutes,
again it starts. even at zero degrees air temperature, the car starts
with the very first attempt. my son loves this car so that I do not
want to part with the car. (for information, I have a 2004 C5 with me
also.) please help me to suggest ways to solve my problem in my 2.0
citroen xsara petrol car. If I change the radiator totally new, will
it work?
