2001 Citroen Xsara LX review from UK and Ireland
"It does what Citroens are supposed to: save money comfortably"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
No problems.
General comments?
A plain Jane car that is reasonably comfortable, practical and economical.
It handles very well, but is let down by its rather sluggish performance which does not encourage overtaking.
The ride is not as soft as older Citroens, but it's more comfortable than any other competitor that I tried.
I get 35-45 mpg depending on driving and use of aircon.
12500 mile service intervals are wonderful, and I only need to put the occasional blast of air in the tyres and fill the screenwash resevoir. No oil burnt/leaked so far.
The rear view is a little restricted by the large C pillars, and the adjustable steering column could to with a little more fore and aft movement.
But those are really the only complaints. I'm very happy with the car and would only have gone for a 1.6 Hdi diesel if one had been available (though it would have been more expensive to buy).
