1993 Citroen ZX Aura review from Sweden

Interior bulbs in heating controls have blown.

Drive shafts replaced.

Exhaust replaced (except for the cat and the parts in front of that)

Speedometer cable replaced.

Handbrake cable adjusted.

I REALLY like my little ZX and think that few second hand cars could give so much for so little money. This I say despite the fact that it has given me a lot of grief within the two months I have owned it (fixed free of charge by the firm that sold me the car however).

The petrol 1.8i-engine is somewhat clattery in sound and, but after it has warmed up it becomes less so.

To enjoy the power of this motor, you have to rev it quite a bit, it's not happy until you go above 3000.

First and second gear could use a little bit more thrust I think, but THEN it's really fast. It really soars and almost give a turbo-like kick (although the exhaust makes quite a bit of noise when accelerating up to motorway speeds, fine once cruising).

And it's a VERY fun car to drive. Responsive and eager with cornering that I have never felt in any other car, including fairly new ones. It grips and grips and grips even if you provoke it.

The suspension is on the soft side, but it never feels TOO soft in any way, just very pleasant and with a ride of a bigger car than it actually is.

The cabin is nice and airy. The interior is a bit plastic, but seems to be of good quality and looks quite fresh for such an old car. The controls are neatly placed in front of you for the most part and easily handled.

My Aura has more sportive front- and rear seats. They are very comfortable (at least for me), but the design makes the back seating for a third person in the middle more or less painful (their back is in the middle of the rear armrest!).

The boot on this hatchback is nice and flat and, because of the adjustable backseat, can be increased by quite a lot! A flexible solution which is a clever and nice touch.

Haven't tested it in really cold weather conditions yet (just some degrees below 0 - celsius), but it seems to work up a nice heat of the cabin quite fast.
