1997 Dacia Nova R524 review from Romania
"Best car (no) money can buy.."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The usual crap - EVERYTHING!
Also some horror moments experienced :
1. Closed engine hood fliped over the wind shield while travelling at aproximately 90 kmh.
2. The gearbox fell while slowing down in order to cross an intersection because one of the engine mounts broke.
3. For about 3 months I had an average consumption of 17-18 litres of fuel for every 100 km. I fixed that finally by switching to a single-cam carburetor.
General comments?
I can only think that I got an unlucky one.
However it still leaves the impression that it runs excellent and cheap when considered the conditions - roads, fuel, service. All these are 3rd world, so the car actually comes good in the end...
