"Poorly built car with pathetic dealer servicing"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Car came with a rusty boot.

Has had a gear-box vibration since new which cannot be found.

Car has pulled to right since new (7 alignments done).

Both front windows do not close properly and cannot be fixed.

Drivers seat had faulty lumbar support.

Carpets replaced due to a hole.

Car doesn't start with less than 1/4 fuel in tank.

Engine dies before accelerating.

Car uses in excess of 1L of fuel every 5000Kms.

General comments?

I can see why they went bankrupt making cars like this!

Conversely, I have privately owned a Daewoo Leganza CDE for over two years and it has been perfect. The dealer service I have experienced in this country (UK) has been excellent so far. Perhaps you had a rogue car. The second hand review magazines in this country say they are well built and no weaknesses have come to the fore so far (I have no connection with Daewoo or service operators).

Well, I own/owned (in the process of trading) a 1999 Leganza SX, fully loaded to include leather and sunroof ($18,000 when I bought it). It is only two years old, in great condition, and only has just 28,700 miles.

Three weeks after I bought it I had to have a window and ignition tumbler replaced due to an attempted theft. It took a month for Daewoo to ship those two parts to the repairman -- who, like myself, had become very frustrated with Daewoo. This was not the first and definitely not the last such problem/experience I had with my Leganza and Daewoo in general.

I have gone to every dealership possible and attempted to trade in that car. The most anyone would give me for my two year-old Leganza is $8000 (as compared to some, to include Daewoo dealers, $4500 - $7000). When a salesman and a mechanic of Daewoos advise you to get out of the car, considering the company's and car's status, I think it was time to do so.

Finally, I found someone who was able to bail me out of my Leganza. I got lucky -- no one else would finance me due to the negative equity I had incurred. So, having experienced similar problems with my Leganza that others are experiencing, I got out of mine -- and I suggest others to sincerely consider their situtations as well. Nice car -- but are you willing to take that great a chance?!?!

Well,

They solved the oil problem by replacing the engine. After 75,000 kms it was beyond repair. I got the car back 2 days ago and what can I say - the dealer has lived up to my expectations. I am seriously considering giving this car away. It stalls when I stop, it won't accelerate if the revs drop below 2000 RPM, and the piece of crap loses all power intermittently.

I am going to see a lawyer.

It uses more than 1 litre of fuel every 5,000 km??? Either you meant it uses more than 1 litre of oil every 5,000 km, or our cars over here in the UK are very uneconomical by comparison at around 10 L /100 km! No wonder it cuts out all the time and won't accelerate - severe fuel starvation!

I have a 1999 Daewoo Leganza I have had problems since I first bought it. The first thing that went wrong with it was it was leaking power steering fluid and they were able to fix that problem. I donot know if it was because it was still under warranty or what I cannot explain it. The second thing that was wrong with it was the brakes kept messing up after two or three months. That was covered by warranty, but I could never seem to understand why. I asked myself in several occassions is something wrong with this car or what. Then after that I was tired of messing with Peltier here in Tyler there I was told that the brakes could only be purchased through Daewoo which was a lie they were trying to make you spend money. Then after that I took my car to King Cheverolet and had them fix my car. So I really donot mess with the dealership because I was just told Friday January 17,2003 that the price value to these cars have dropped down a whole lot. The only way that they could help me was if I traded in the car and gave a down payment of 6000.00 and I told him that he had to be kidding. That is not the end of my story because he also said that for me to get a hold of the attorney generals office and asked them what could be done for me to let him know because they owed him a lot of money because Daewoo had filed bankruptcy, but that is not our fault. I feel that everyone that has purchased this car has a right to recieve another car because these cars are considered lemons. Why do we have to wait 6-8 months on parts when we have to pay them every month when our car payment is due. I feel that the Dealerships who sold these cars to their customers should at least gives us an even exchange. Do you agree let me know.
