Initially the car ran beautifully it was a joy driving it, till the second servicing. When it began to choke and stop,--- problem was traced to water in petrol tank --- reason for this took over six months to trace--- the fuel pump being faulty was replaced (within warranty fortunately.) (then the company closed down)
-> no problem till coolant started leaking -- problem traced to cracked manifold-- replaced, but this did not solve the problem of heating completely. The problem would emerge while driving uphill, or sustained driving, the temperature gauge would be normal, but the moment the engine was switched off the coolant would spurt out and overflow. Problem still persists.
-> choking has started again, fuel pump again replaced. (June 2007)
-> parts changed/replaced fuel pump twice, manifold, alternator, distributor.
-> still looking for solution to the heating problem!!! help please----
The temprature gauge is normal, outside temprature is 44-45 celcius, car running in city with frquent stops and with ac on full, the coolant is boiling and overflowing on stopping of the engine-----reason still not comprehend-able. As the company has closed down do not know who would be the right person to advice and solve the problem. if anyone has any clue please help.
Beautiful car in spite of its faults, moves gracefully, very comfortable seats, and I am truly in love with it. Parting with it is out of question.
Please, if you want the coolant not to boil after stopping, just let the engine run for 2-3 minutes after you stop moving... this will allow the coolant to circulate inside the engine and cool it down. This thing is normal on every car when driving in a very hot environment.
If you want the engine to stop boiling, you have to avoid using the AC in heavy traffic. The AC condenser add a lot of heat to the engine's cooling system thus a lot a stress, and this may jeopardize your engine. Is tough, but you have to suffer time to time if you want your car running.
Check that the overflow valve isn't broken. the spring could have moved.
To be honest, - worst case scenario there is a blockage in the water circulation channels inside the block or the head, or in fact inside the radiator. First, perform a coolant flush - observing good flow, 2.- make certain the water pump is actually working!!! 3.- try removing the thermostat entirely.
Exactly, get a full coolant flush, check the hose properly; if they are about to be worn in future, then replace them at once.
Water pump; get it thoroughly checked cause I had a problem too with my Daewoo Matiz - the temp gauge will show normal indications, but the coolant used to disappear as there is no coolant been used in this car since bought.
Get your coolant cap changed, get a new thermostat if it's not working as it should be.
Get your radiator washed at a car wash station thoroughly with high pressure water. This is what I always do in my car as well after a month by splashing a couple of mugs of wash on the radiator.
Don't use your car`s A/C in heavy conditions as it will really increase the car's temp in heavy conditions. Try to drive your car mostly in 4th gear as it will hardly let your engine get as hot as it's getting now. Don't use car`s A/C in first & second much.
Use Castrol coolant, 1 liter of water as well with 1 liter coolant for extreme chill conditions.
