1998 Daewoo Nubira SE review from Australia and New Zealand

"I really like the design of the wagon; it was modern looking when new and still is"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Just a bunch of small things, but I'm sometimes a bit picky.

Had roof bars replaced twice because of paint pealing off, under warranty.

Had radio and CD unit replaced 3 times because clock didn't keep correct time, sick of adjusting it. Eventually they wouldn't do any more about it, so I use the clock above the rear vision mirror.

Muffler literally fell off at about 20,000km and replaced under warranty, then again after warranty. At about 40,000km after warranty was finished same again, but this time replaced with a custom made system, so far no problems.

Front disc brake pads didn't last long and left the alloy wheels dirty all the time, replacement pads are still going at 88,000km.

Vehicle was rustproofed when purchased. 1 month after the 3 year warranty was over, when checking under the bonnet, which before that time I didn't worry about, as it came with free servicing for 3 years, I found serious rust at the front of the bonnet, sort of repaired under warranty.

General comments?

I have found the wagon runs and handles to my driving requirements (nudging 60 year old grandfather). My sons say it handles like a boat, whatever that means.

Caught in a hailstorm 2 years ago and was written off by insurance company, bought it back for $700 (not bad for a 7 year old car with 70,000 kms, so I'm happy to drive it around as is till it dies.
