"Any Ladas for sale, I want to swop"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

My car was listed as a safety recall for front brake hose, bearing in mind this car is not yet 3 years old.

The silver trim on the door opening handles is peeling off.

This car is thirsty work with regards to petrol use, I get around 25 MPG per gallon.

Just had its first MOT both front suspensions wishbone joints have needed replacement. £400.

Front and back right side tires have been relaced twice in one year.(£200)

Indicator bulbs needed replacement. I was quoted £25 for the work, Carried out the work to a cost of £3.70.

When I got the car back the AA checked it over because of a "rattling noise",

turns out that the nuts and bolts on the wishbone had not been tightened, despite going to TWO garages.

Boot lock is faulty.

Heating hose needed replacing.

General comments?

I feel for a car that was not even three years old, I did not expect a major part of the car to need replacing.

The wishbone/front suspension should have lasted longer than 3 years.

£6500 for a years use.

An expensive car to keep, I dread the next MOT (If I keep the car that long).

I ran a Lada that cost £200 from an auction for four years with a service that I carried out myself and only needed brake pads renewing at every MOT.

Shame these cars were not built for British roads.

Would I buy a Daewoo again???

I DON'T think so.

You have been unlucky

I own a Tacuma CDX 2.0

getting about 30 mpg from it at moment

front suspension has been replaced and it was also

recalled due to the brake hose, but no other major problems

I have owned 3 daewoo's now Nexia from new, lanos from new and my present Tacuma which will be sold next year.

(you should be glad the car was recalled perhaps there was nothing wrong with your car

but by law they must recall all cars with this particular part) recalls are not uncommon doesn't matter what car you own be it a fiat, ford, nissan etc)

Codswallop. The Nubira was built from bean cans with engines made of plastacine. The Paint was artists watercolours and the timing belts are liquorice. Wheel rims came from recycled coke cans, and the interior was put together by a one legged daschhund with crossed eyes and a tin of water based glue. They are a total disgrace of a car, and a bottomless money pit. I bought one at auction (for peanuts even though it was only a year old, and it calved within 3 months, timing belt snapped. I refused to spend 1 penny on repairing the piece of crud and squished it with my digger. It was not fit to sell on to anyone else, that would be amoral.
