1998 Daewoo Nubira SE review from UK and Ireland
"This Daewoo car saved me"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The tensioner on the cam belt collapsed which saw off the cam-belt and then all my 16 valves! That was partly my fault - when I had the car serviced just one month before, I took it to an independent garage to have the work done. They changed the cam belt, but didn't change the tensioner. The repairs cost in excess of £800.
Needed its brake cylinders renewing on MOT time and few other bits and pieces, which cost £200.
General comments?
Just a couple of days after the MOT whilst driving on the dual carriage-way, a ford transit van hit the back of my car and caused me to hit a mitsubishi 4x4. There was a very loud bang and I woke up in hospital. My car was crushed in this accident, but when I later thought about it the safety features in this car were critical. ABS brakes, Dual airbags, and emergency fuel cut off switch on detection of collision.
The driver of the ford transit was prosecuted with dangerous driving, I have no idea what happened to the people in the mitsubishi.
I am grateful to the designers and engineers at Daewoo that I am still here to write this...
