Timing belt (only once) at 35,000.
Excellent acceleration.
Solid engine.
Reliable.
However, brakes are not optimal.
I bought the model of 93 in 2001 (brand new, zero meter). But I found it not according to my wish. Its major problem is its brakes which are not stable and its bonnet is at very short height from the ground.
Its acceleration is good, everything is great about it, but its brakes is the problem which should be main accessory of any car. And one thing, if some one from the Daewoo company is concerned from this comments is that its spare parts (1993-94) RACER model are very short in Pakistan. Nowadays, if you see in Pakistan the no. of these cars are in numerous quantity if there is the availability of parts in my country it will be very profitable for Daewoo company & I believe you will take special attention on this major problem of brakes & as well as in spare parts especially.
Pakistan has seen an influx of 10'000 of these cars over the past years, and the service and support of the dealer network of this car has been poor from the start. A tip if you are in Islamabad though, there is an authorized centre for the repair of these vehicles and he does carry every part for a Racer, Cielo, and a Fantasy.
I have a Daewoo racer since 1997,and after two paint jobs, it's still running strong.
I am also lover of daewoo racer and I have this car since97.The company had made this car great in its top speed. But there is a major problem which I am facing. The problem of its breaks. Which are very poor for its top speed and main problem which I am facing right now is of its elecronic fuel injuction system. Because when it starts not working properly then no one can make it work properly except company. And also there is a little problem regarding to its speed. That is of its gear. its gear 4 speed gear not 5 speed gear. And when ever I exceed the 120km/h its engine becomes heavy like it now wants another (5 gear) gear. If the company work over on these minor things. Then those days are not far when people say we want daewoo except others.
I bought this car of 1993 model in 2001. It is very good car with tough body. But spare parts are scares in pakistan and are expensive. This car has no resale value. It needs 5-speed transmission to become softer in high gears. I want to know how the above mentioned problems could be overcome. its engine is very good with no problems even after 70000 km.
I have a Daewoo Racer since 1997 (almost nine years now, I have been noticing the remarks about bad brakes, I have yet to come across a comment which states the precise brkes problem, perhaps if one were to put in good tyres, one would have better braking. Ride comfort, engine power to body ratio is very good, tremendous road grip, and stability of ride is unmatched, technology is very basic and requires just a little knowledge about cars and efi systems. I have had no such problems in acquiring spare parts of any sort here in Karachi. However it may be a scare in other cities. I usually tour up country by road almost twice every year and of-course I have never had any problem whatsoever, other than a tyre puncture on a rare occasion, the point to be noted is that I go to my village on it as well, which would seem unrealistic without a 4X4, high road clearance vehicle. I have various vehicles, toyotas, hondas, suzukis and a merck as well, but the attachment I feel with my Daewoo Racer is beyond any measure. I LOVE MY DAEWOO! Of course it's in imaculate condition without saying.
I am in possession of Daewoo Racer (1993 Model) since 2000.I have enjoyed a trouble free comfort of the car. I exercise due care in the routine maintenance (replacement of oil, filters, belts and brake servicing). It is comfortable, smooth with a huge trunk space despite CNG Cylinder. I am very frequently asked to sell the car because of its imaculate condition, but I have no intentions of doing so. An excellent car with such an attractive price tag.
I am Daewoo specialist, people all over Karachi approach me. There are some problems of having spares and also bumpers, it is quiet expensive in Pakistan.
Hello to Daewoo specialist.
I have a daewoo racer 95 model, I don't know if it is the fuel system or the carburetor who has the problem, when I'm off the road, it suddenly stops just like theres no fuel even if I just put fuel on it. then I will start again then after 50 meters or so it will stop then I need to start again. what do you think is the problem? Is it the fuel injector or the carburetor or the fuel filter? I need your answer very badly because I also love my daewoo as others do. I hope I can get answer to you ASAP. THANKS.
Hello my name is hamza and I had a (92) daewoo racer. no doubt that its really an exellent vehicle. the main problem is its breaks. normally we need a very sudden break which is not much possible in this vehicle. its acceleration is good its balance while having a sharp turn turn is superb. i request the company to please please and please launch a new model of this vehicle and I can give garranty that it will be more popular than toyota. pls consider because I love daewoo and daewoo is my life. pls launch a new model...
Asalamoalikum All...
I hv just bought a Daewoo Racer 1993 model..1998 reg. the car I got had just hv run about 37000 Km only. the only problem I m facing is about its engine check LED. it is continuosly glowing. I m unable to find actually wht the problem is. plz any body help me out.
Dear All.
The glowing engine light shows that your car has some faulty elctronic sensor or some wrirng problem. If you live in lahore I can give you a number which can help you a lot on this car.
I have a problem with my Daewoo Racer 1995. When I was driving, a buzzer started to ring but continuously. Afterwards I stopped the engine and started it again and then there was no sound. Can you please tell me what was that noise for? Thanks.
May be of your wires are getting shorted, that's why the buzzer is ringing or try to reset your ECM. If problem still persists, then you need to check youur engine wiring, but I'm not sure in this case.
