1985 Daihatsu Charade G11R Turbo review from UK and Ireland
"Fast, but a pain, but makes you want more"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I have owned the car for a month:
Clutch first week
Head gasket
sticky valve
starter motor
Turbo.
General comments?
These cars are fantastic if you want a cheap runabout that's fast, insurance is dirt cheap at 18 wit no NCB it's £800 a year.
The good points about the car :
Other boy racers have no idear wot the car is so when you race them they are shocked when they see how fast it is.
The handling is very good the gear change is great.
The turbo has very little lag, the car picks up good. If you fit an air filter you have instant wastegate wirl.
Bad Points:
Very tempermental engine.
Vacuum pipes I have no idea what goes on with them.
When you hit the accerator hard you have a resictor at 60mph that makes the engine cut out, if any body knows how to remove this e-mail me.
James_charade@hotmail.com.
My plans are to fit an CB-80 engine out of an Gtti. If anybody has done this conversion and has any information e-mail me please.
How many are left in the uk tell me please.
