1989 Dodge Aries LE 2.5 L I4 from North America

Summary:

NICE bargain

Faults:

Computer of the car was burned, but it still ran. Gas mileage wasn't so good.

General Comments:

I loved the 5-speed, (rare) it had some power, and anyone that says that they are death traps is wrong; they are like tanks. I crashed my car into a rock face head-on after hitting a large rock on the road (which damaged the oil pan). There were 4 of us in there, but nobody was hurt. If it wasn't for the flat tire, I could have driven it home, so I'm fixing a new Aries now.

1989 Dodge Aries LE 2.2 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Good commuter, nice vintage car, but a bit slow

Faults:

Headlights are often dimmer than usual

Head gasket blew 2 months after I got the car.

Dash lights sometimes don't work.

Radio display flickers.

Slower engine and transmission.

Engine is noisy.

A/C does not work.

General Comments:

It's a slow, sluggish car, but it gets me to school and back in one piece. I like the boxy styling of it. Replaced my 1986 Dodge 600, which was totaled in a bad crash last winter. This was a former government automobile, got it for $720.00 in great shape, low miles, very clean, no rust. Interior is roomy (front at least) and clean. Runs good, but not great. Otherwise it's a true American classic, a true golden K car from a golden era.

You should get your ground checked on that 1989 car. Headlights are often dimmer than usual. can be a bad ground.

1989 Dodge Aries LE 2.5L 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

A good solid, economical car, with a bit of pep to it when needed

Faults:

Oxygen sensor quit around 100,000 km.

Constant Velocity (CV) joints are wearing out since it was first bought.

Seat belts do not retract, has been like this since I bought the car.

General Comments:

First of all, for the most part, this car is stock.

When it comes to performance, it's not a hot rod, but it is pretty quick! I like the 2.5L engine, better than both the 2.2L and the 2.6L. In my opinion, the 2.6L Mitsubishi engine is a piece of junk.

I personally prefer bucket seats up front as opposed to the bench.

When I bought the car, I didn't notice at first, but I think some person was messing with the odometer, and rolled it back some. If buying a car, make sure to watch for this. A good way of telling is to look at the odometer itself, and if the numbers do not line up in a row, then maybe look elsewhere for another vehicle, as the person (s) you are dealing with aren't being honest with you!

1989 Dodge Aries LE 2.5, I-4 from North America

Summary:

Granny mobile!

Faults:

CV joint and headlight.

General Comments:

The Aries is a very good car to own. It is very reliable, while not very slow. It can't keep up with a Camaro though.

1989 Dodge Aries LE 2.6 Chrysler-Mitsubishi 4 from North America

Summary:

My dream car

Faults:

Brake system is shoddy.

Power steering gave out once, but it was repaired and works fine now.

General Comments:

This car is an excellent econo-box and despite the public opinion that K-cars are ass, many of my friends rather enjoy riding in it.

This baby gets around 25 MPG city, so I save LOTS of money on gas.
