1996 Dodge Avenger Base review from North America
"A sporty, roomy car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
After a day of rough driving (racing) the head gasket blew. Was about a four hundred dollar repair.
Whenever I give it some gas in fifth gear, it pops out. can be held in place, but is a pain in the ass. Still looking into repairs, should be around one thousand dollars (or so the mechanic tells me..)
General comments?
Sporty car, if you put some work into it. I put about 500 dollars into mine with only a new cool air intake and catback exhaust setup. since then its held its own in races.
One thing I'm very proud of is the lack of rattling. I have a 900 watt Sub in the trunk, and not one part of the car rattles.
Very comfortable seats, moon-roof adds a lot, gauges and dials are all placed well, and the sound system is awesome.
If you put some money into it, the avenger can become whatever you want it to be!
