1977 Dodge Campervan Sportsman review from North America
"Strong, dependable, fantastic.. If only they were all like this"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing really major to speak of. Seems like it is running on less that 8 cylinders at times, or like the timing is off (which it isn't, the distributer, wiring, and spark plugs were checked). Occasionally backfires slightly after heavier throttle.
General comments?
This truck (which is actually a 26 foot motor-home, but with a van body front clip on a 1 ton, dual wheeled chassis) works great.
360 V8 has lots of power, but is small enough, and set up just right, so I get very good fuel economy considering. Like it a lot more than the 400 or 440 in terms of in a motorhome this size.
Easy to work on a get parts for (for the most part). Parts tend to be on the cheap side too.
Has held up really nicely. Mostly original and looks great. People can't believe it's a 77.
Runs quite, very smooth. Seems pretty easy to drive and maneuver compare to others.
