2001 Dodge Caravan review from North America

Front stabilizer sway bar bushing went bad at 67820 miles.

Power Distribution Center went bad at 48,487 miles.

Front stabilizer sway bar bushing went bad at 34,099 miles.

Emission system (emission harness) bad at 34,099 miles.

I like the dodge caravan. It's a comfortable and quite ride. However, when something breaks, the service I received is less than desirable. I purchased an extended warranty in case something went bad before it's time. When the power distribution center went bad, it cost me over $800.00. The dealer never told me that it was covered under the warranty. I called Chrysler and they advised me that it was covered. I was reimbursed after spending hours on the phone with both the dealer and Chrysler. When the emission system went bad (still under warranty at 29,800 miles), the dealer cleared the alarm and called it good. The alarm came back and by the time I was able to bring the van back to the dealer, it was over 30,000 miles. I was told that the system was no longer covered and that I had to pay $380.00 if I wanted it repaired. Front bushings on the caravan seem to last about 30,000 miles. Today was the last straw (5/31/2007). I had my daughter take the van to a Chrysler dealer for repair and she was told that there was no extended warranty. She went home and the car was not serviced. I then called Chrysler again and was advised of the warranty number, but it didn't matter. The front stabilizer bushing was not covered, but they could not tell me that until they did a diagnostic test for $106.00. They also (service person) told me that they could not do a history on the vehicle. I asked to speak to the manager and he was able to pull it up on the computer. I was also told by the manager that he will not be disrespected... I did raise my voice, but no disrespect intended, just frustration. I left there disappointed/mad, but did not have to pay the $106.00 for diagnostic. Never again will I buy a Chrysler!
