1996 Dodge Caravan review from North America
"The biggest money pit on the road"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The car is quite comfortable in the early spring. In the summer we just stay at home because we don't want to suffer in the heat of the van since the air conditioning is broken again, and neither on of the front windows roll down, which I was told by the mechanic was a very common problem for this caravan, and he was surprised that it has never been recalled. Any way about it I can't afford the $800.00 air conditioning repair or the $1400.00 windows, so we do not go anywhere that is not absolutely necessary. Before I had the car a year I had to replace the rear brake cylinders front brakes and rotors, and the brakes are still making strange squealing grinding noises as I stop. I had to spend $1800.00 on a new head gasket. The fans for the heater only work on high unless you don't need it then it will occasionaly work on the other speeds. The oxygen sensor had to be replaced, and that is only the start. This car had been one head ache after another since the day that I got it. I wanted a reliable family car, and all I got was the money pit on wheels, that I avoid taking my family in. All I know is that it will no longer be in my possession after this year. I can't afford to keep it any more.
