1998 Dodge Caravan SE review from North America
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Serpentine belt and tensior problems
General comments?
My 1998 Caravan has been a decided disappointment. I bought the vehicle used at a Dodge lot and the serpentine belt started to shred after 1500 miles (naturally at the top of a mountain pass). I nursed the car to a mechanic, where they changed the belt and the tensioner. This lasted a year and it came off on another mountain pass (both times, it was either raining or snowing). I poppped off a month later. We replaced it and it lasted a year and it started to shred again. Anyway, I think I'm on the second tensior and fifth belt (3 different mechanics have looked at it, including Dodge). Gee, I wonder why people are buying Toyotas?
