1992 Dodge Colt 200 E review from North America

I have only had minor problems with the car - things you'd expect to go wrong by this mileage.

After running if for 6 months, I put a gas tank and sending unit in, shortly followed by a catalytic converter.

One day, while driving on the highway, I blew my radiator. This really was my fault - I'd know for quite a while that it needed replacing. Things heated up under the hood, and by the time I got pulled over the shoulder, there was oil everywhere in the engine compartment. We put a new radiator in her, and she's been running fine for nearly 8 months now - doesn't even burn a drop of oil.

I am a university student, and this is my first car. It has treated me great, and it is really cheap to run.

The car is still on the original engine and transmission, and it still will be for a while (knock on wood). However, there is a plastic piece in the shift linkage starting to wear badly. This makes it reluctant to shift into second on occasion. This really isn't a problem, as long as you double clutch it.

This car is surprisingly roomy inside and I love it. I am about 6'3, and drive it quite comfortably after a modification including the seat track and a couple pieces of 3/8" flat-bar.

It cruises along at highway speed (110 km/h) quite comfortably, for what it is. However, it still requires some pretty fast down shifting on steep hills. The 5 speed makes it surprisingly peppy around town.
