1992 Dodge D150 review from North America
"Willy Nelson has one just like it!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Engine control unit failed due to Utility Package (110V inverter) frying the on-board voltage regulator-engine still ran, but headlights pulsed. Rear-Wheel anti-lock dump valve failure, cured by disconnect and brake line by-pass (symptom-no rear-brakes). Speed Sensor seal caused failure of speedometer (cheap fix). Anti-Spin Differential Failure due to Utility Company running different size tires on rear (Now open-differential action). White paint peeling off of Galvanized panels, but no rust, except where crashed-NOTHING ELSE!
General comments?
This has been the best vehicle I have ever owned. 145K miles, no leaks, no smoke. Starts every time. Not the best for icy conditions, but pulls like a mule. Tire smoking power with 3 inch y-pipe back exhaust. Not the best fuel economy with a 3 Speed auto, but a truck that won't die is worth it. Drove it from Detroit to Tampa and all over the South, then back to Detroit. It's been in two feature-length motion pictures (have you?). Survived a crash with a Toyota 4-runner in GA.
