Heater fan squeals
Transmission is hard to pull out of park
Loud clunk when put in gear
High - low beam button sticks.
This was a one owner truck before I purchased it from the deceased owners wife. I purchased it mainly to have a spare ride when my main one was in the shop- repairs, inspection, etc. I also use it to tow other vehicles on a regular basis and am totally amazed at the power this thing has. It is equipped with a towing package, air shocks and a low temp thermostat and could probably pull a locomotive. I guess I was spoiled from all of the modern rides we have today and forgot how we used to build them. Yes,you have to get used to starting a carb engine in the cold all over again and yes 11 mile to the gallon seems crazy, but it makes me feel like a 16 year old again. Heck I might even be able to talk my wife into going parking in it.
Your transmission problem is probabley just your universal joints, could be a cheap fix.
My 1985 Ramcharger also sometimes makes a clunk when putting it in reverse. I replaced the U-joints, but they weren't that bad and it didn't make the noise go away. I do notice that it doesn't do this when the 4WD is engaged, which leads me to believe it is just some play in the transfer case. It has been doing it for years now, and hasn't developed into a problem.
What is the 0-60 time and the top speed of the 84 ram d150 318 automatic?
Would it beat a Volvo station wagon 2wd 2.3 4cyl not turbo. in a drag race.
How about a 97 Chevy 4x4 ext cab 5.7 v8?
The "Clunk" is in the back rearend. If you take the yoke out, just fill the splines with grease and put it back together, then the clunk will stop for a month or two, then start back. My 1983 has done it since it was brand new, it won't hurt anything.
