1990 Dodge Daytona ES review from North America
"After 11 years, it still looks good, drives great and has been very reliable"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
New brakes, calipers, discs, pads etc. They were worn out when I bought the car. Be warned, if your Daytona has the "high performance" brake package, get ready to spend over $200 for EACH caliper which were very hard to find.
New shocks and struts which were also needing replacement.
Tires, P205 60R15s are not the easiest to locate nor the cheapest tires to find!
New radiator and thermostat. This car had sat for two years and only been driven 120 miles so the antifreeze had eaten up the inside of the radiator.
Replaced (precautionary) the timing belt around 60,000 miles as is reccomended for the Mitsu 3.0LV6.
Replaced stock air filter with a drop-in K&N filter.
General comments?
For a car that is 11 years old, this baby still looks good and drives fast. The seats are very comfortable, especially the power enthusiast seats.
With the suspension reconditioned, it handles great and even does well on the snow w/studded tires.
The interior of my Daytona has been cared for lovingly and it still looks new, nothing broken or missing. All power options work, A/C works, cruise, front and rear wipers, rear defog etc. There are a few buzzes or rattles in the back due to the use of a very hard plastic for the interior moulding around the deck-lid and rear seats. This stuff has NO give at all and will squeak, especially when its hot.
I love driving this car!
