"A total sleeper"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The transmission was stuck in 1st gear when I got the car. $400 dollars later, it was replaced.

The starter nut broke the stud on the solenoid, when replacing the transmission.

An incorrect alternator was installed in the car, the correct one was installed.

There was no thermostat nor a gasket for the outlet, which was the cause of the coolant leak.

The radiator blew the drain plug because the car overheated severely. Fixed that with the old radiator from my old car.

The alternator was not charging the battery, the canister purge solenoid was not working, nor was the radiator fan turning on. The fix: A new radiator fan relay and a 20 AMP fuse.

The noise filter in the radio was no good, replaced it with CD player from my old car.

The tires were no good. Two of them were bald, the other two were the wrong size. P205/60/R15 size tires are not that common, nor are they cheap too!

The brakes were worn out. The repair was costly due to the fact that the car came with factory high performance brakes. These parts weren't cheap either.

General comments?

Despite all the repairs I have done to the car, I still drive it every day. This is one of the most reliable cars that I have driven.

The handling on original shocks and struts is unbelieveable. I can keep up with many import and domestic cars in its class. Imagine an 11 year old car running next to a new Toyota Celica GT down some pretty country roads!

The amount of acceleration in this car from a little 6 cylinder engine is remarkable. If it puts me into the seat, it will put anyone into the seat as well.

The automatic transmission is not the best option for that car. However, it makes up for the fact that you can drink you soda and not have to shift.

For what I paid for the car, and the amount of work I put into it, this was an excellent choice.

Hey, I have a 89 daytona es, it is VERY VERY VERY slow as it is just not breaking, the engine barley works, I don't think it will last the next week!!! I just got it painted a awsome cherry red with pearl white shelby stripes.. the car LOOKS brand new, it looks soooooo nice, but the engine and trany are going bad I think, the thermostat just went out I think becuase the car will overheat if I let the temp go up, it will come down as it sits in the cold. I can barley make it to school because of this. the trans is barley shifting now, it wants to stay in 1st, but barley pulls out.. its going down!!! where can I get a new trans or engine, etc. please help!
